Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I am very excited! Today my mom and sister are coming to visit. They are bringing a Uhaul of a bunch of things Eric and I had waiting for us in storage in Indianapolis. Most importantly, our washer/dryer. Thats right, we’ve not had a washer/dryer in almost 6months. And let me tell you, its not been pretty.
This has been an ongoing battle because, understandably, our families in Indianapolis are busy and have their own lives. But we hadn’t had an opportunity to go to Indianapolis and drive back to NC with all of our items! But the need for our stuff increased once I found out I was pregnant. All of my maternity clothes and Helena’s clothes (pre-6months) and toys were in there. I needed to get those soon because I don’t know when I’ll need maternity clothes this time. I have heard you show a lot sooner in the second pregnancy.
I’m also really excited to get dressers (yep, our clothes have basically been in piles in the closet), the grill, patio furniture (although not to be used for much longer) and Christmas decorations. I had actual panic that I wouldn’t have Christmas decorations when the holiday season approached.
Speaking of the holidays, we’ve received the current “leave dates” for Eric and I’m very excited to spend 2 weeks in Indianapolis with family and friends. And possibly more excited for Indianapolis comforts like Bub’s Cafe for brunch, Yat’s cajun food, the Carmel and Westfield Goodwill (for Helena clothes), Skyline (which I have never really craved before) and basically other food establishments. Can someone say pregnant?!
Eric returned home from Italy for Christmas and we had a wonderful time spending it with family friends. Some highlights include:
-Date night w/ Eric at Melting Pot (yes, a real live date!)
-Spending a few days in Louisville with Eric’s family.
-Eric’s surprise birthday party (thrown by me) at the lakehouse. He turned 30!
-New Year’s with the Griffins. A comfortable “parents” new years complete with two people passing out (tired) during the countdown.
-Surprising Jake (our 5 year old nephew) at tae kwon do with Eric’s return
-Lincoln’s 2nd bday party. An Elvis theme complete with a peanut butter/banana cake (made by my talented sis in law, Jama, and her cake company “Cake Zen”), 3 Elvis appearances, and light saber fights
-Lots of sibling time.
-Buca di Beppo dinner with my family, traditionally done on Xmas eve but due to balancing families, on the 27th.
-Xmas Eve spent in Louisville with Eric’s father and family (with a wonderful Xmas Eve feast), Xmas morning spent with my parents’ in Indiana, a short nap followed by a Xmas at Eric’s brother’s house in Indiana and splitting a dinner at my parents’. Whew!
-Many other get togethers with friends and family.
It was jam packed with family and friends. So happy to be reunited.
I was lucky enough to have three “showers.” My mom threw one for family and friends on my side at a park. I met up with some former coworkers for tapas and my sis in law and Eric’s cousin threw a shower at a salon (supplying me with a mani/pedi) for Eric’s “side.” I don’t have photos from the shower my mom threw or the coworker “shower” yet but heres a few from the salon. BTW, This was about at 37weeks and somehow my bump is really hidden! Believe me, it was there!
